Children in grades K-5 are invited for an evening full of LEGO® activities! Kids can create LEGO art using stamp pads and LEGO blocks, build and race LEGO balloon cars, and create a mask of their favorite LEGO character. Then at 6:30pm, we'll show The LEGO Movie in the story room. (Rated PG | 100 min.)

Astronomy for Everyone: Size & Scale of the Universe

Astronomer Kevin Manning, a former consultant with NASA, will share a slideshow and video footage about the size and scale of the universe, stars and other celestial wonders using hands-on activities and assorted visuals. After the presentation, the audience will venture outside to view celestial objects in the night sky.

Eating Bugs?!?

Calling all teens! On World Food Day, stop by the library to learn about some unusual and natural sources of food – especially bugs! We will be video chatting with Patrick Liesch, an entomologist from UW-Madison's Insect Diagnostic Lab, and Six Foods, a company founded by three women who produce cricket flour based snacks.

Grossology!

Children will make fake scabs, learn about mucus and create their own "snot," and explore other gross science. This event is part of the Wisconsin Science Festival.

Boat Science

Children in grades K-5 are invited to learn the science behind how boats float and carry heavy cargo! We will construct model boats and test their strength by seeing how much cargo (pennies) they can hold while floating in water.
