Teen library patrons now have the opportunity to participate in a new challenge called 100 Books Before Graduation!
This challenge encourages high school students to read a wide selection of books before they graduate and head on to further education. Progress is logged using the Beanstack app, which is free on the Apple App Store or in the Google Play Store. Rewards are earned for every 20, 50, 70, and 100 books that are read, and rewards include book bags, books, and a gift card upon completion of the program!
Any book can count toward the total goal of 100 books! They can be fiction or non-fiction, poetry or prose, published this year or 200 years ago. They can be books that are read for fun and personal enjoyment, or a book that the student has to read for school. Even audiobooks, comic books and cookbooks count and can help get you to your goal!
If you’re looking for ideas of where to start on your reading journey, stop in to the library, use the online catalog to browse for books, or check out our digital library (free to use with your library card!) Other great resources are Novelist and Book Connections, both of which allow you to search for a book you enjoyed and find read-alikes, or browse award-winning books (and both resources are free). You can also view our curated 100 Books Before Graduation reading list, compiled from college-recommended reading lists and popular contemporary literature.
So what are you waiting for? Download Beanstack and start the challenge today!
