April 11, 2016
Marathon County Public Library is extending our observance of National Library Week (April 10-16) throughout the month of April by highlighting our employees through a series of staff profiles! Now through April 30, learn a little bit about the personnel at our nine MCPL locations, and feel free to give them a friendly "hello" next time you see them!
Name: Ashley C.
Job title: Library Assistant
MCPL Location: Wausau Headquarters
Time Worked at MCPL: 4 years
What are some of your main job responsibilities?
I work at the circulation desk, performing customer service, helping patrons find materials they are looking for in the library, ordering books for the patrons and collecting fines. I also do Spanish story time, passport processing, and behind-the-scenes reports.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I like connecting and working with the variety of our patrons at the circulation desk. We have a lot of wonderful and interesting people with whom I have been able to connect. I am always happy to see them walk into the door!
What is your ideal vacation?
A world cruise! I very much love to travel, and this way I would be able to see most of everything I wish to see in my lifetime.
What motto or philosophy do you live by?
Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Kindness and intention can go a long way.
How do you think MCPL will continue to transform in the future?
I feel as though MCPL will evolve along with the community that surrounds it. The library will always be a place for books, research, and knowledge. I feel like our library in the near future will also be known as a place for technological knowledge and advancement. Also, it will remain a place that supports creativity of any kind and encourages our community to feel comfortable to explore all areas of interest through programing, building improvements and technological offerings.
