"Pushback" against drug abuse in Marathon County

Over the past three years, drug abuse has become a major problem in Marathon County. The library has partnered with the Marathon County Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Partnership to host an educational series to raise awareness of the scope of the problem and how each us can play a part in the solution.
Sessions will be offered at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters in the Wausau Room (third floor). Interested parties can attend either the daytime sessions, Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., or evening sessions, Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- What’s Hot Now? / Oct. 8 & 9 — Learn about current drug trends that are affecting young adults in Marathon County.
- I Think We Have a Problem / Oct. 15 & 16 – Learn how to identify if someone is using or dealing drugs, and how to safely intervene.
- The "A" Word / Oct. 22 & 23 — Learn about the power of addiction, the risk of relapse and local treatment options.
- It Takes a Village / Oct. 29 & 30 — Learn how all levels of the community can play a part in drug use prevention, treatment and recovery.
