Girls of Brackenhill

Cover: 'Girls of Brackenhill'

Staff Review: "Girls of Brackenhill" by Kate Moretti

17 years have passed since Hannah has stepped foot in her family's estate, which is actually her family's castle. Ever since her sister disappeared during a summer spent with her aunt and uncle, Hannah hasn't looked back. Her fiancé doesn't even know she has a family estate steeped in ghosts and tragedy, until she's called to return after her aunt dies in a car accident. Once she arrives, she realizes she can't leave until she really finds out what happened that summer, and what really happened to her sister. Soon she begins sleepwalking for the first time in 17 years, and as she fights to find out what happened in the past, the reader is taken down a rabbit hole of secrets, mystery, and tragedy.

Full of twists I never would have guessed, this gothic thriller kept me reading until late into the night. I won't give away any spoilers, but the ending is definitely one you want to discuss with a friend, as not everything is perfectly tied up for the reader at the end. The ending stays with you long after you finish the novel!
