The Haunting of Ashburn House

Cover: 'The Haunting of Ashburn House'

Staff Review: "The Haunting of Ashburn House" by Darcy Coates

Adrienne, desperate and desolate with few possessions and very little money left, thankfully accepts an inherited house from a relative she's never known. As she slowly wanders around the house she can now call home, Adrienne starts to notice a few things that give her a sense of unease. Why are there no mirrors in the house and strange messages scratched in the walls? Do the rumors floating around about the house have any inkling of truth? What really happened to the original owners?

I thoroughly enjoyed this creepy paranormal mystery (which some also classify as horror) and was rooting for Adrienne throughout the novel (not to mention her adorable cat). The creepy slow burn of the house's mystery all culminated in what I thought was a really satisfying ending. I'm looking forward to reading more novels by this author!
