Staff Review: "Summer Days & Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories"
"Maybe it's the long, lazy days, or maybe it's the heat making everyone a little bit crazy. Whatever the reason, summer is the perfect time for love to bloom." Summer is here and so is the latest young adult short story collection edited by Stephanie Perkins. This is a great summer companion to Perkins' other anthology, "My True Love Gave to Me", which features winter stories. Spotlighting twelve different YA authors, each story has its own distinct voice. The characters, settings, and plot lines stretch across the board. Anyone and everyone will find a story they can relate to. From a horror-filled carnival to a lakefront resort, and from a lake monster to a teen with Asperger syndrome, there is a good balance of fantasy stories and realistic fiction. It's also fun to find each couple on the front cover after reading their story. While it's mainly a fun and breezy read, some stories tackle more complex issues, but this only makes the collection stronger. I loved every story! If you are a fan of romance, young adult literature, or looking for a fun summer read, this is a perfect addition to your summer reading list.
