Activist Poetry Workshop With Wisconsin Poet Laureate Margaret Rozga

Adults

Calling all poets! Join us during the Central Wisconsin Book Festival for a workshop on activist poetry with Wisconsin's Poet Laureate!

Margaret Rozga, the 2019-2020 state poet laureate, will lead a workshop on poetry that aims toward activism. We'll start with some warm-up exercises and read short sample poems to open up a metaphorical door to the social justice poems we'll write. Volunteers will then read their drafts, followed by general discussion and some revision suggestions.

This is a great chance to learn from Rozga and other, local poets in a smaller, cozy setting! Free and open to the public, but space is limited at both workshops so registration is required. Call 715-261-7230 to register or for more information.

Support for the 2019 Central Wisconsin Book Festival is provided in part through the Community Arts Grant Program of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, with funds provided by the Wisconsin Arts Board, a state agency, the Community Foundation, and the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation. Support is also provided by the Dudley Foundation, the Marathon County Public Library Foundation, the Walter Alexander Foundation, the Friends of the Marathon County Public Library, Wisconsin Public Radio, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau, Marathon County Historical Society, Center for the Visual Arts, the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, Janke Book Store and Wisconsin Public Service.
