SUMMARY:Spencer: Book Club: "At Home in Mitford" by Jan Karon
DESCRIPTION:Join library staff and other book lovers for engaging discussions of books each month! In May\, the As the Page Turns Book Club will discuss “At Home in Mitford” by Jan Karon. \nIt’s easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high\, green hills\, the air is pure\, the village is charming\, and the people are generally lovable. Yet\, Father Tim\, the bachelor rector\, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won’t go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now\, stir in a lovable but unloved boy\, a mystifying jewel theft\, and a secret that’s sixty years old. Suddenly\, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich comedy about ordinary people and their ordinary lives. \nNo registration is required\, and new people are always welcome! For more information\, please contact us at 715-659-3996.

SUMMARY:Mosinee: Book Club: "A Flicker in the Dark" by Stacy Willingham
DESCRIPTION:Join our Mosinee staff and other book lovers for engaging discussions of a variety of books each month! In May\, the group will discuss “A Flicker in the Dark” by Stacy Willingham. \nWhen Chloe Davis was twelve\, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer\, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life\, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath. Now twenty years later\, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve\, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing\, and then another\, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid\, seeing parallels from her past that aren’t actually there\, or for the second time in her life\, is Chloe about to unmask a killer? \nNo registration is required\, and new people are always welcome! For more information\, please contact us at 715-693-2144.

SUMMARY:Stratford: Book Club: "The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau" by Kristin Harmel
DESCRIPTION:Join library staff and other book lovers for engaging discussions of books each month! In May\, we will discuss “The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau” by Kristin Harmel. \nColette Marceau has been stealing jewels for nearly as long as she can remember\, following the centuries-old code of honor instilled in her by her mother\, take only from the cruel and unkind\, and give to those in need. Never was their family tradition more important than seven decades earlier\, during the Second World War\, when Annabel and Colette worked side by side in Paris to fund the French Resistance. But one night in 1942\, it all went wrong. Annabel was arrested by the Germans\, and Colette’s four-year-old sister\, Liliane\, disappeared in the chaos of the raid\, along with an exquisite diamond bracelet sewn into the hem of her nightgown for safekeeping. Soon after\, Annabel was executed\, and Liliane’s body was found floating in the Seine—but the bracelet was nowhere to be found. \nSeventy years later\, Colette has done her best to put her tragic past behind her\, but her life begins to unravel when the long-missing bracelet suddenly turns up in a museum exhibit in Boston. If Colette can discover where it has been all this time—and who owns it now—she may finally learn the truth about what happened to her sister. \nNo registration is required\, and all are welcome! Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book. Can’t make it? Join us to discuss the same book for our evening book club on May 26. For more information\, please contact us at 715-687-4420.
