Wausau: Creative Writing Challenge

This November, celebrate National Novel Writing Month with us! Young adults and adults are welcome to complete our monthly challenge of writing 100 words a day or ~700 words a week to get their stories written, adding up to at least 3,000 words total in the month of November. Track your writing all month long using our log sheet which you can print off online, or pick up at the Reference Desk the week of October 27. At the end of the month, turn in your completed log sheet for a chance to receive fun writing-themed prizes! Please bring your log sheet to the Reference Desk on the second floor by December 6. Log sheets will not be accepted prior to November 30. The goal of this challenge is to write throughout the entire month and to not rush through. So if you happen to reach the target of 3,000 words, please set additional goals for yourself to keep yourself challenged and motivated. The prize winners will be contacted on December 9th. Please note that you must be able to pick up your prize in person at MCPL-Wausau. The winner’s stories will be reviewed by library staff, confirming valid completion of the challenge. If you fail to meet the requirements under library staff discretion, you will not be eligible to receive a prize.
In addition to the Creative Writing Challenge, we will be holding Write Nights every Tuesday in November from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Attend our first Write Night on November 4 to pick up your log sheet, ask any questions, and enjoy the company of other writers. Bonus: Attend at least two of our Write Nights on Tuesdays to increase your chances of receiving a prize at the end of the month!
For more information, please contact us at 715-261-7230. Happy writing!
