February’s selection is “The Woman They Could Not Silence: One Woman, Her Incredible Fight for Freedom, and the Men Who Tried to Make Her Disappear” by Kate Moore.
This nonfiction selection is about Elizabeth Packard, who was committed to the Illinois State Hospital in 1860 by her husband, and her fight for freedom. Elizabeth’s courage and determination to help herself and the other sane and rational women in her ward has the reader wondering, “Why have I never heard of Elizabeth Packard before now?”
Everyone is welcome and registration is not required. Stop by the Marathon City Branch to pick up a copy of the book. Call 715-443-2775 for more information.
