This novel tells the story of Tova Sullivan, a grieving widow who forms an unlikely friendship with a grumpy giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus while working the night shift at an aquarium; as their bond deepens, Marcellus, with his exceptional intelligence, begins to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Tova’s son, prompting her to confront a painful past and find a path towards healing.
