Curbside Pickup during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) closure:

  • Step 1: Place holds by calling 715-687-4420: Mon. | Tue. | Thu. | Fri., 9 a.m.–4 p.m.; Wed., 10:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
    • You will be notified by phone or email when your requests are available for pickup. You must reply to this notification in order to schedule a pickup time frame.
    • Only items owned by MCPL Stratford are available for pickup at MCPL Stratford, so you may wish to confirm availability first.
    • Online requests are not available while the library is closed.
  • Step 2: Arrive during your assigned pickup time frame: Mon. | Tue. | Thu. | Fri., 10 a.m.–2 p.m.; Wed. 2–6 p.m.
    • If you have a mobile phone, call 715-687-4420 once you've arrived.
    • Once your arrival is confirmed, library staff will move your items to the pickup area.
  • Step 3: Retrieve your items from the pickup area: in front of the main entrance, under the overhang.

History of the Marathon County Public Library - Stratford Branch

Beginning in 1930, the Stratford Woman's Club volunteered their time cataloging books and working in the library which was housed first in the Knights of Columbus Hall and later in the back of the post office. In 1947, the library was moved to the Village Council Chambers where it remained until construction of the new library in 1995. The library staff worked to introduce new services. The first story hours were held in 1947 and best sellers were rented out for 10 cents per week in 1948. The Stratford Library joined the county library in 1949, and has been a popular service for area residents since its beginnings.
