The Central Wisconsin Book Festival is excited to partner with the Center for Visual Arts in Wausau on receptions for their poetry and art exhibit, “Gathering,” as well as a new solo exhibition by cartoonist and illustrator Duachaka Her titled “Then and Now.”
Gathering is a uniquely curated exhibition of art created in different mediums and poems written in an ekphrastic response to the art. For those unfamiliar with the term, ekphrastic poems are vivid descriptions of various scenes or works of art and all of the poems in the Gathering exhibit were written in direct response to the art pieces that will hang on the walls. Along with plenty of time to wander the exhibit, the reception will feature a live poetry reading starting at 6:30pm and featuring many of the poets to contributed work to the exhibit.
Also that evening, the CVA is hosting a reception for another current exhibition featuring the work of cartoonist and illustrator Duachaka Her, a Central Wisconsin Book Festival alum who appeared at our 2018 festival and will join us for a conversation at MCPL Wausau the next day at 10am!
