Internationally bestselling author David Wroblewski, a native of Wisconsin, will hold his first book event in the Badger State in 14 years when he joins the Central Wisconsin Book Festival in September!

Fifteen years ago, David Wroblewski’s debut — The Story of Edgar Sawtelle — released to instant acclaim. A #1 New York Times bestseller, the book was called a modern classic by critics and readers alike, and was selected as Oprah’s 66th Book Club pick.

This year, Wroblewski’s highly anticipated follow-up novel marks the return of the Sawtelle family in Familiaris, the 106th Oprah’s Book Club pick. Edgar Sawtelle leads an idyllic life with his parents on their farm in remote northern Wisconsin. But with the unexpected return of Claude, Edgar’s paternal uncle, turmoil consumes the Sawtelles’ once peaceful home. When Edgar’s father dies suddenly, Claude insinuates himself into the life of the farm – and into Edgar’s mother’s affections.Grief-stricken and bewildered, Edgar tries to prove Claude played a role in his father’s death, but his plan backfires – spectacularly.

David will join us at the Dreyfus University Center theater on the campus of UW-Stevens Point for this free event to discuss his book, take audience questions and sign copies of the novel. Open to the public, no registration required. Call the Portage County Public Library at 715-346-1544 for more information.

Support for the 2024 Central Wisconsin Book Festival was provided through the Marathon County Public Library, Portage County Public Library and McMillan Memorial Library; the Community Arts Grant Program of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, with funds provided by the Wisconsin Arts Board, a state agency; the Community Foundation; and the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation.
