Edgar Book Club: "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson
Adults Drop by the Edgar Branch each month for a lively discussion on a wide variety of books, including our May pick, "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson.
In 1993, Greg Mortenson was an American mountain-climbing bum wandering lost through Pakistan's Karakoram. After he was taken in and nursed back to health by the people of a Pakistani village, he promised to return one day and build them a school. In a region where Americans are often feared and hated, he has survived kidnapping, death threats, and wrenching separations from his wife and children and has built over 50 schools.
The author, Greg Mortenson, will visit Edgar in March for a speaking engagement organized by local group A Walk in Their Shoes.
New attendees are always welcome! The Edgar book club always meets on the second Thursday of the month. Call the Edgar Branch for more information.
