Community Writing Project
The world is living through unprecedented times and many of us are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. But MCPL is encouraging people to channel some of that concern and chaos into something creative!
We know many adults with and without kids are either self-quarantined at home or being asked to work from home, and maybe you're already feeling a little stir-crazy. Or perhaps you just need to write off some steam after working outside your home in this chaotic world. Maybe your young kids and teens need a project to occupy more of their time. We're not encouraging anyone to blow off work or school work just to write, but write what you want when you have some free time.
What are we looking for? The short answer: Anything. Could be a rant, could be a piece of short fiction about the end of days or the light on the other side of this pandemic tunnel, it could be a simple poem or a nice example of people helping other people. We're all in this together, folks, so we might as well write and read together, too!
Send your writing to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we'll share it on the MCPL blog and pick out pieces here and there to share through social media. Please keep it clean, and include your name and where you're writing from. If you'd prefer we don't use your full name when sharing your work, let us know that, too. Depending on the quality and quantity of submissions, we might just compile the work into an e-book or printed volume!
