The Marathon County Public Library Board of Trustees, commonly known as the Library Board, operates under Chapter 43 of the Wisconsin Statutes. Per its bylaws, the Library Board is composed of seven members: two members of Marathon County Board of Supervisors, one administrator of a Marathon County school district, and four representatives of the general public. Library Board members are appointed by the County Administrator with the approval of the Marathon County Board of Supervisors.

Library Board Meetings

Library Board Meetings normally occur on the third Monday of every month at noon at the library's Wausau Headquarters, although irregular and/or off-site meetings may be scheduled occasionally. In 2022, the board is scheduled to meet on 1/18, 2/21, 3/21, 4/18, 5/16, 6/20 (at MCPL Athens), 7/18, 8/15, 9/19, 10/17, 11/21 and 12/19. Additional meetings may be scheduled for special topics. Meetings are open to the public except as specified under Wisconsin law.
