2024 Lineup

The Central Wisconsin Book Festival is very happy to announce a few of the authors coming to town this year, starting with acclaimed bestselling author David Wroblewski!

David is the author, most recently, of the novel Familiaris, his followup to the internationally bestselling The Story Of Edgar Sawtelle. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle won a bunch of awards and was included on many 2008 best-of lists, and Familiaris is also generating a considerable amount of buzz and glowing reviews since it was published in June 2024, including a spot in Oprah’s Book Club. (Edgar Sawtelle also was an Oprah pick.) Esquire magazine, in their Best Books of Summer 2024, declared Familiaris to be “mythic in its proportions and riveting in its finely textured portrait of life in Wisconsin’s Northwoods,” Tom Hanks (yes, the actor and author) said the novel “is as expansive and enlightening a saga as has ever been written.” David will join us the evening of Saturday, Sept. 28 in Stevens Point. We’re still working out the location so check back soon!

We’ll also be joined in Wausau by Andrew Graff, author of the 2024 novel True North. Andrew last joined us in 2021 to share his well-received debut Raft of Stars. Like Raft, True North is set in Wisconsin and revolves around a river that is, by turns, tranquil and menacing. The same could be said for the marriage of the couple at the center of True North. Shelby Van Pelt, author of the incredibly popular novel Remarkably Bright Creatures, said: “Andrew Graff’s clear-eyed, sensitive examination of marriage, family, and community weaves through a delightful story of whitewater adventure and small-town tension that’s impossible to put down. I loved it!'” Andrew will join us the night of Thursday, Sept. 26 in Wausau (location also to be determined.)

Going back to Stevens Point, we’re very excited to welcome – for the first time at the Central Wisconsin Book Festival! – Wisconsin’s own Hannah Morrissey. Hannah is the author of the Black Harbor suspense series which includes Hello, Transcriber; The Widowmaker; and When I’m Dead. Her next novel in the series, The Unlucky Ones, is scheduled to be published in March 2025. The uber-popular crime author C.J. Box said he was “sucked in immediately and could think of little else until the last page” when he read Hello, Transcriber, and New York Times bestelling author Riley Sager called Hannah “one of the brightest new voices in crime fiction.” Hannah will join us the evening of Friday, Sept. 27 at the Portage County Public Library in Stevens Point.

We’ll have more authors to announce very soon! Thank you for your interest and we can’t wait to see you in September!
